Many subscribers of e*Vision have been impacted by a worm
that enters computers to exploit a vulnerability in some
Microsoft Windows software.
The worm is called W32.Blaster, MSBlast or just Blaster.
The worm spreads by scanning the Internet for vulnerable
computers. A worm called W32/RPCSdbot, which is spread by
e-mail, also exploits the same Microsoft vulnerability.
The worm can close down computers with some versions of
Microsoft Windows and if this happens, professional
assistance may be required to fix infected computers.
Microsoft advises users of later versions of Microsoft
Windows to download a patch from
http://www.microsoft.com/security/security_bulletins/ms03-026.asp
to protect against the worm.
Panda Software also provides a free application especially
designed to detect and eliminate the Blaster worm and repair
the damage that it may have caused in affected computers.
