How To Submit Articles: What Is Article Marketing?

This article is a very simple guide for beginners about what
article marketing is and how to submit articles. Article
marketing involves using free reprint articles to market
a website.

A free reprint article is an article that an author submits
to an article directory and perhaps other types of online
publishers, where permission is granted to publish the article
for free, in return for a link back to the author's website
from the resource box at the end of the article.

The author of the article gets:

--Exposure for his website

--An opportunity to display his knowledge on his topic and
establish himself as an expert in his field

--A chance to improve his website's search engine ranking for
keyword terms associated with his site, which can dramatically
impact the amount of traffic that his website receives

The publisher gets to publish quality content on his site for
free, which increases the value of his website for his readers.

Free reprint articles are written on the same general topic
of the author's websites. For example, if the author's website
is about sail boats, then the free reprint articles that he
writes will be about sail boats, sailing, sail boat gear,
how to sail a boat, etc.

What's really great about article marketing is that it's
universally accessible--pretty much anyone can do it, and
you don't even need to be a great writer. Most people who
do article marketing are just average business people who
want a simple and effective way to market their websites
online.

Here are the steps for doing article marketing:

1 - Write an article.

*It should be on the general topic of your website, but the
article itself should not be about your website or business.
Your article should teach your reader how to do something
associated with your niche.

*A good word count to shoot for is somewhere between 400 and
800 words. The article should have an introductory paragraph,
a closing paragraph, and supporting paragraphs in between.

*The title should be interesting to a reader and accurately
indicate what the article is about. Ideally, the title would
include keywords that you've researched and would like your
website to be associated with.

*Grammar and spelling are important in the title and the
article body. The article doesn't have to be artfully
written or worthy of a Pulitzer Prize, but it should have
the following characteristics:

*It should teach your target readers something about your
niche. Ideally it would teach them how to do something that
will benefit them.

*Your article should contain proper grammar and spelling.

*For ease of reading on a computer screen, it's helpful to
use short paragraphs, bullet points, numbered lists, and
sub-headings in your article.

2 - Create a resource box, also know as an "author bio".

The resource box is submitted along with your free reprint
article, and it usually appears below the article. To get
the most out of your article marketing efforts, it's
important to put some thought into constructing your author
bio. Here are the elements you should include:

*Your name

*A little about yourself and/or your business

*A compelling reason why the reader should visit your website
(perhaps a free e-book you're giving away, a newsletter with
more tips on your topic, or a blog that has a steady stream
of information on your niche.)

*A link back to your website.

3 - Submit your article and resource box to online publishers,
such as article directories, announcement lists, ezine editors,
and blog publishers.

4 - If the publisher likes your article, then it will be
published on that website.

After a few months of consistently submitting articles, you
will have amassed a library of content on your topic, which
is published on various sites on the internet, and that
links back to your own website. Article marketing is known
to help improve a website's search engine ranking, which in
turn can make a big impact on how much traffic is sent to
your website from search engines.

When you started your website, you might have thought that
marketing it yourself was over your head, but that's totally
not the case! With article marketing, most people with just
an average knowledge of the internet and writing are able to
successfully market their websites.
